“Shockwave treatment is known as one of the best ED treatments because it works toward an ED cure by correcting the underlying cause.”

Male Performance

Male sexual dysfunction occurs in about 40% of men at age 40 and increases by about 10% each decade with age. Poor male performance is related to erectile dysfunction (ED), poor libido, or trouble with ejaculation. ED is a the reason for a high percentage of men to experience poor male performance. Many new ED treatments are now available, but ED treatments may not help if libido is reduced or if male ejaculation is abnormal. For an ED treatment to work, the reason for poor male performance should be diagnosed properly. VIP Health and Laser Clinic in Gainesville, FL has the trained staff to 1) Diagnose ED problems and 2) Provide the best ED treatment.

Causes of ED

Shockwave ED Treatment

A higher risk of ED is seen in men who are obese, those who smoke, and in those who are sedentary. ED may be related to medications or diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, prostate cancer, alcohol use, or kidney disease. Medications that affect male performance include anti-depressants, beta-blockers, other blood pressure medication, diuretics, and anti-fungals. There may be alternative medications that can be prescribed which have a lower chance of causing ED. Low testosterone may result in either ED or lower libido. A blood draw may be done to determine if the total and free testosterone levels are low so that this can be corrected. We review ways to increase testosterone naturally here.

The Best ED Treatment

There are several options for ED treatment at VIP Health and Laser Clinic. We use a systematic approach to customize an effective treatment plan for ED. Specific lifestyle changes will be implemented which include a personalized exercise program, nutritional changes, medication, and supplements. These specific instructions are able to reverse the course of chronic diseases leading to your ED. Testosterone levels should be evaluated. Then, additional options include ED meds by mouth such as medication, ED meds by injection or shockwave therapy. After reviewing all of these possible options, we will work to determine the best possible ED treatment for you and your budget.

ED Meds

The most commonly used medications for erectile dysfunction are available here at the office if you are a candidate. These agents act as a vasodilator and are up to 60% effective. The medication usually starts to work in about 60 minutes. These medications should never be taken by those on nitrate medications or those with heart problems. Serious side effects may occur including low blood pressure and lightheadedness. Other side effects include headache, flushing, upset stomach, blurred vision, runny nose, muscular pain, and nausea. If these medications have been working for you, blood flow to the erectile tissue needs to be restored. If you would like to reverse the underlying cause of ED and improve blood flow, then shockwave treatment is the best option and has the highest potential for an erectile dysfunction cure.

ED Injections

There are generally 2 types of ED injections used to help produce more firm and longer lasting erections. 1) The P-Shot uses your own blood spun in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets. This is then injected into several areas of the penis to provide a long term natural enhancement of a male’s ability to produce erections. 2) ED injections containing blood vessel dilating medication. ED injectable medications are usually self administered in the shaft of the penis. ED injections with medications can be prescribed to produce an erection almost immediately. They are usually done in the shaft of the penis just before sexual relations. The injection contains 2-4 medications that dilate blood vessels. The injections are 90% effective, producing an erection in 5-10 minutes. ED injections are well tolerated and safer than oral ED medications. They are safe for individuals with diabetes, heart problems, circulation issues, and even those who have had prostate surgery.

Shock Wave Treatment for ED

When ED is caused by blockages in blood vessels related to atherosclerosis, the best chances of an ED cure involves the use of shockwave treatment. This potential ED cure uses a handheld instrument to deliver pressure waves into the erectile tissue and blood vessels of the penis. The sound waves penetrate deeply into the arteries of the penis which removes plaque in blood vessels, and helps to form new ones. Shockwave treatment for ED is more expensive than other ED treatments, but improves both the ability to achieve an erection and erection hardness scores.

More About Shockwave Treatment

Shockwave treatment is known as one of the best ED treatments because it works toward an ED cure by correcting the underlying cause. The treatment takes 30 minutes to complete and is done twice weekly for 2 weeks ( a total of 4 treatments are done). This ED treatment has no major side effects. Shockwave ED treatment is not painful and there is some discomfort but it is well tolerated.
